Los Angeles, CA – April 8, 2014 – Los Angeles based independent music publishing company Notable Music Co. are proud to announce the signing of Skating Polly to an exclusive worldwide administration agreement.
Skating Polly is a duo from Oklahoma comprised of sisters Kelli Mayo (14) & Peyton Bighorse (19) who at a very young age have already shared stages and collaborated on albums with the likes of Exene Cervenka of X (who produced their sophomore album), Kliph Scurlock of The Flaming Lips, Calvin Johnson of Beat Happening, Mike Watt, Deerhoof, and Band of Horses. Compared in sound to a younger Savages or a new age Bikini Kill, the sisters have been influenced by large doses of ’70′s punk rock and early-’90s alt-rock and mine inspiration from artists ranging from Johnny Cash and the Beatles, to NWA and Regina Spektor. The Riot Grrrl movement is a strong influence on their new album, Fuzz Steilacoom‘s creation with plenty of playfully aggression-fueled performances as gloriously embodied on the first single, “Alabama Movies” and also showcases Skating Polly’s sensitive and melodic side on poignant tracks like, “A Little Late”. You can hear much of the album being spun currently by legendary Los Angeles DJ, Rodney Bingenheimer on KROQ‘s Rodney on the Roq show. Pick up their new album now and check their site for news & tour dates. Not to be missed!
Formed by the legendary jazz musician, songwriter, and Broadway composer Cy Coleman in 1962, Notable Music is an independent music publishing company committed to supporting its great and varied songwriters.
