Tony Bennett – I’m in Love Again

(click song title above to listen)

Frank Sinatra was long-rumored at one time to be recording an album called Here’s to the Ladies but never got around to actually making the record. In 1995 Tony Bennett did just that, the theme being songs made famous by female singers. It won Bennett the Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Performance in 1997. The tune was written by Cy Coleman and Peggy Lee and was the title track to Lee’s 1964 album for Capitol Records.

By the mid-1990s, Bennett was as popular as he had ever been. His latest come back was sealed by 1994′s MTV Unplugged feat. Elvis Costello and K.D. Lang, which went platinum and won the Grammy for Album of the year as all as another for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Performance. Tony became a Grammy perennial, taking home a multitude of Best Traditional Pop Vocal Performance awards for his albums On Holiday: A Tribute to Billie Holiday (1998), Bennett Sings Ellington: Hot & Cool (2000), Playin’ With My Friends: Bennett Sings the Blues (2003), A Wonderful World (2004), The Art of Romance (2006), Duets: An American Classic (2007), Duets II (2012), Cheek to Cheek (2015), The Silver Lining: The Songs of Jerome Kern (2016) and just this past Sunday, Tony Bennett Celebrates ’90. Congrats Mr. Bennett on your latest win!
