Premiere: Skating Polly and Kate Nash show their softer sides in “A Little Late” video. The video for the piano-led ballad from their recent lp, Fuzz Steilacoom, was filmed on a tour run from their house in Oklahoma to Los Angeles, shooting in locations like Stillwater, OK and Tucamcari New Mexico and various locales around L.A. such as Santa Monica, Eagle Rock, and Griffith Park. The song showcases singer Kelli Mayo’s delicate vocals and impressive skills on the keys. Watch the Dave Smith-directed video HERE and look out for a cameo from Kate Nash.

Skating Polly is a duo from Oklahoma comprised of sisters Kelli Mayo (14) & Peyton Bighorse (19) who at a very young age have already shared stages and collaborated on albums with the likes of Exene Cervenka of X (who produced their sophomore album), Kliph Scurlock of The Flaming Lips, Calvin Johnson of Beat Happening, Mike Watt, Deerhoof, and Band of Horses. Compared in sound to a younger Savages or a new age Bikini Kill, the sisters have been influenced by large doses of ’70′s punk rock and early-’90s alt-rock and mine inspiration from artists ranging from Johnny Cash and the Beatles, to NWA and Regina Spektor. The Riot Grrrl movement is a strong influence on their new album, Fuzz Steilacoom‘s creation with plenty of playfully aggression-fueled performances as gloriously embodied on the first single, “Alabama Movies” and also showcases Skating Polly’s sensitive and melodic side on poignant tracks like, “A Little Late”. You can hear much of the album being spun currently by legendary Los Angeles DJ, Rodney Bingenheimer on KROQ‘s Rodney on the Roq show. Pick up their new album now and check their site for news & tour dates. Not to be missed!
