Our favorite jam on Jenny O.’s album, Automechanic is this week’s pining and poignant stunner, “Lazy Jane”. Produced by Jonathan Wilson (Father John Misty, Dawes) in Los Angeles and recorded on toasty 2″ tape, our Jenny, Jonathan and drummer James Gadson (of Bill Withers fame) got in a room and pushed ‘record’. We do give thanks!
If you didn’t catch Jenny O. and her band on the 15 date tour with Rodriguez, you will get another chance May 25 – July 1 supporting Night Beds. Cities include Knoxville, TN, Evanston, IL, Austin, TX, Atlanta, GA, Detroit, MI, Brooklyn, NY and many points in-between. Jenny O. will cap it off by headlining Mercury Lounge NYC on July 2nd.
But we’re jumping ahead, if you’re in Nashville on May 23rd please bust a move on over to her 6p in-store appearance at one of the great record shops, Grimey’s.!. You can peep the new video for “Automechanic” HERE.

“There’s a purity and a fire to Jenny O. that I find irresistible. Her almost child-like voice is an evocative counterpoint to the confidence and complexity of her music.” writes Amy Seidenwurm for Boing Boing and we couldn’t have said it better. This week’s top tune is one of our favorites from Jenny’s upcoming lp Automechanic coming Feb 5th, 2013 via her own imprint Holy Trinity Records.
Jenny’s had quite a year, she toured solo throughout the UK for the ex-U.S. release of her ep Home, and had several dates in the U.S. w/Father John Misty & Rodriguez. Her songs have appeared in TV series, car commercials, video games and will be featured in a couple of upcoming films (stay tuned). Coming off of two recent guest appearances at Petty Fest West, Jenny O. will perform this Thursday November 29th at The Spare Room (at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel) – 10p.

As Jenny O. preps her journey to the UK for a full slate of summer festivals and tour dates, this week’s top tune features a very special sneak peek at her forthcoming album, Automechanic, with the title cut.
Produced and recorded in Los Angeles by Jonathan Wilson (Father John Misty, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Dawes), this track combines Jenny’s sublime singing and story telling with the added fuel of Bill Withers’ own James Gadson on the drums.
“Working on engines and making them run again”. Indeed.
