Tony Bennett’s ballad version of “For Once in My Life” was a Top 10 hit one year before Stevie Wonder made it a #2 pop smash. Released on Columbia Records in 1967, the album of the same name also featured the lovely Cy Coleman & Dorothy Fields song, “Baby Dream Your Dream” from the hit musical Sweet Charity.
This is the American Dream, served up 1960′s style with a cherry on top. A time when apparently the bank made a “friendly loan”. Wow, far out.
Dream we sign the lease, leave a small deposit.
Three and one-half rooms, with a walk-in closet.
We’ll ask the local jet set, to dine on our dinette set.

Antibalas (Spanish for “bulletproof”), a Brooklyn based band modeled after Fela Kuti’s Africa 70 band and Eddie Palmieri’s Harlem River Drive Orchestra, has been steadily recording, and touring all of over the world since 1998. For those of you who have witnessed them in concert or even on Broadway blowing the roof off of the Eugene O’Neill Theatre on a nightly basis as the band (and arranger) for the production of Fela!, you know how powerful, joyful and inspirational they are.
“Dirty Money” was co-written by our very own Marcos Garcia (aka Chico Mann), a longtime guitarist/vocalist for the group. Growing up in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of New York City, Marcos was greatly influenced by the sounds of Fela Kuti, Celia Cruz, Willie Colon, Lisa Lisa, & Afrika Bambaata. In 2011, the band reunited with producer and former Antibalas guitarist Gabriel Roth at Daptone Studios in Bushwick Brooklyn to record their fifth full length album titled “Antibalas”. The album was released on August 7, 2012 on the Daptone label.
Master controlled by Daptone Records.
