Tim Easton – Gallatin Pike Blues

This week’s Top Tune is named after the street that connects Tim Easton‘s East Nashville neighborhood with among other places; Bolton’s Spicy Chicken & Fish, The Ryman Auditorium and it’s back alley side-kick, Robert’s Western World. The latter hall is where Tim assembled the modern-vintage musicians that burn up his latest critically acclaimed album, Not Cool. Here is a little sample what they’re sayin’:

Hot, sweaty, sexy, righteous, cool - PopMatters

All in all, Not Cool must be considered among the most prominent albums released in 2013. Very Cool. - No Depression

Tim Easton finds his inner Buddy Holly and rocks. Here comes the sun… - Nashville Scene

Tim Easton – Don’t Lie

This week’s Top Tune is the foot-stomping first single from Tim Easton‘s forthcoming album, Not Cool due August 20th via Thirty Tigers. This song “a snapshot of a combustible relationship” and the album it comes from is a tightly wound gearbox of tunes that showcase his influences, including Doc Watson, Elmore James, and Keith Richards.

The album was recorded earlier this year in Nashville in five hard-charging days with producers and long time collaborators Robin Eaton and Brad Jones. Tim’s concept for Not Cool came to him as he as leaving the back stage door of the Ryman Auditorium one night. “I walked across the alley in the back door to Robert’s Western World on lower Broadway and heard the locals killing it. JD Simo on guitar and Joe Fick on upright bass. It was just the modern, yet vintage sound that I wanted “.

This marks Tim’s seventh album, get ready for another installment of inspired, melodic and nuanced storytelling.
