Robert Goulet – I Can’t Let You Go

(click song title above to listen)

Robert Goulet became a huge Broadway star in 1960 following his debut role in Lerner & Loewe’s Camelot. The original cast album was America’s top-selling LP for 60 weeks and became associated with the Camelot-like Kennedy Administration.

Numerous appearances on The Danny Thomas Show and The Ed Sullivan Show made Goulet a household name. He followed several more starring roles on Broadway with a long successful career in TV and Film including memorable roles in hits like Beetlejuice, Scrooged, The Simpsons, and Toy Story 2.

Goulet recorded this week’s Top Tune in 1965 for Columbia Records. The tune was originally written for the Cy Coleman and Dorothy Fields hit musical, Sweet Charity but was later cut from the score in favor of “Too Many Tomorrows” recorded by label-mate Jerry Vale. It’s a rare & shiny gem from one of the suavest baritones of the 20th Century!
