Bobby Hebb - Sunny

Today we’re pleased to present one of the all time great American pop/soul classics: Bobby Hebb’s timeless “Sunny.” Easily one of the most covered modern American standards (everyone from James Brown to Marvin Gaye to Wilson Pickett have recorded classic versions; the Old 97′s Rhett Miller and the Dap Kings with Lee FIelds have each recorded stellar recent pop and soul interpretations, respectively), “Sunny” is a tune that immediately brings a smile to the face – instantly recognizable and impossible not to sing along to. According to BMI, “Sunny” has generated more than 7 million performances, making it one of the performing rights organization’s all-time most performed songs. BMI proclaims the tune as “a bonafide entry into the great American Songbook” – we couldn’t agree more.

Sadly, the music world lost Bobby Hebb this past August after a long illness. What an amazing musical legacy he has left us…
