Before Reggie Watts became a YouTube sensation and Conan’s favorite stand-up comedian, he was vocalist/synth-man of the Seattle groove band Maktub. And on 2007’s Total Recall 2012 by Aja West & Friends, Watts was a principal friend and contributor on the album. Our man Aja West keeps his space jazz at bay and instead flexes his songwriting chops on songs like “Penny in a Fountain,” heard here in all its funky, synth-laden glory.
