The legendary songwriting team of Cy Coleman and Carolyn Leigh gave us some amazing pop standards – “The Best is Yet to Come,” “Witchcraft,” “Hey, Look Me Over” among them. One of their lesser-known numbers,
the tender ballad “I Walk a Little Faster,” was recently lovingly revived by by the incredible Fiona Apple for the Cy Coleman tribute album The Best is Yet to Come. The song, beloved by the jazz and pop set alike, appeared on albums by such luminaries as Tony Bennett, Blossom Dearie, Bobby Short, Mabel Mercer, and Rod McKuen – but in recent years it remained rather unknown to the contemporary listener. Until now.
Check out Fiona’s incredible live reading of the song, filmed at Los Angeles’ famed Largo at the Coronet from the Cy Coleman Tribute Concert, HERE
