Blossom Dearie - Doop Doo De Doop (A Doodlin' Song)

Originally written for the Dick Van Dyke Show, this Cy Coleman & Carolyn Leigh tune became a big hit for Blossom Dearie in 1958 and again later for Peggy Lee. Blossom’s trio on Once Upon A Summertime consists of Mundell Lowe on guitar and the great rhythm section of Ray Brown on bass and Ed Thigpen on drums.

You might recognize the tune most recently as a mash-up with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club’s “Spread Your Love” in this ad for The Cosmopolitan Hotel – Las Vegas.

Here’s a live clip featuring Bing Crosy & Peggy Lee.
